Meet Paul Old

With nearly 40 years of experience in the construction and property development industry, Paul has built a reputation for quality, professionalism and practical problem-solving.

From his early days working in his father’s joinery workshop to becoming a successful Property Developer, Paul has spent his career gaining first-hand experience across every stage of the building process.

Today, through WestBuild Consulting Ltd, he helps self-builders and developers navigate complex projects with confidence, offering independent advice based on decades of real-world knowledge.

From Joinery Workshop To Property Development

My journey in construction began in my father’s joinery workshop, following my older brother into the family business. While I enjoyed learning the craft, I quickly discovered that my true passion was being on site, solving problems and helping projects come together.

Over the years, I gained experience across a wide range of sectors and disciplines. From large retail fit-outs for nationally recognised brands to home extensions, loft conversions and complete new-build homes, each project provided valuable lessons that continue to shape my approach today.

As my experience grew, so did my understanding of the challenges clients face throughout the planning and construction process. I went on to manage and deliver my own property developments, experiencing first-hand the pressures of planning applications, budget management, contractor coordination and project delivery.

These experiences form the foundation of WestBuild Consulting Ltd.
